5 Flags
Sydney's five VFL/AFL premierships span from the South Melbourne era to the modern Swans dynasty. The 2005 flag under Paul Roos ended a 72-year drought, while the 2012 premiership cemented the club's status as a perennial contender. Three earlier flags as South Melbourne (1909, 1918, 1933) are part of the club's rich history.

Club History

Est. 1874

Originally founded as South Melbourne in 1874, the club relocated to Sydney in 1982 and became the Swans. After decades of rebuilding, Sydney won the 2005 premiership under Paul Roos and added another flag in 2012 under John Longmire. The Swans reached the 2024 grand final but fell short. With Dean Cox taking over as senior coach in 2025, and stars like Isaac Heeney and Chad Warner in their prime, the Swans remain one of the AFL's premier clubs.
