The Other Named Awards

Goss, Miller, Fothergill & Johnson

Norm Goss Medal

Awarded to the best on ground in the VFL Senior Grand Final, determined by a panel appointed by AFL Victoria.

Named after Norm Goss, a celebrated Williamstown footballer of the post-war era.

Frosty Miller Medal

Awarded to the VFL's leading goal-kicker at the conclusion of the home and away season.

Named after Fred 'Frosty' Miller, a Port Melbourne goal-kicking great of the 1930s and 40s.

Fothergill-Round-Mitchell Medal

Awarded annually to the most promising young player in the VFL. Eligibility: aged 24 or younger, no previous AFL match experience, not on an AFL primary or rookie list at the start of the season, and adjudged by the Competitions Manager to be a draftable talent.

Named jointly after Fothergill, Round and Mitchell — historic figures recognised for their contributions to VFA/VFL football and player development.

Frank Johnson Medal

Awarded to the best player from the Victorian state representative side in any year a state-of-origin game is played. Determined by the Competition Manager.
