The first Academy graduate to reach Sydney Swans life membership, Heeney was drafted in 2014 and won the AFL's Mark of the Year in 2018. His move into the midfield brought back-to-back Bob Skilton Medals in 2024 and 2025, a third All-Australian selection and 28 Brownlow votes in 2024. He has played 244 AFL games and kicked 330 goals.
