Recruited at pick 22 in the 2013 draft, Gardiner has spent his career as Chris Fagan's defensive fix-it, matching up on tall and small forwards as required. He earned a Rising Star nomination in 2014, was awarded Brisbane Lions life membership in 2023 and played in the 2025 premiership. He has played 196 games and kicked 14 goals.
