Harmes joined the Western Bulldogs in the 2023 trade period after 152 games for Melbourne, where he had arrived as pick 2 in the 2014 rookie draft. A hard-running 186cm midfielder who could also play forward, he spent three seasons at the Whitten Oval before announcing his retirement in August 2026. He played 174 AFL games and kicked 94 goals.
