The Tasmania Devils joined the VFL as a standalone state representative side in 2026, ahead of Tasmania's planned entry into the AFL competition in 2028. The Devils give Tasmanian-listed players and emerging talent a high-level competition base on home soil and operate as a direct development arm of the broader Tasmania Football Club project. Despite being in their inaugural season, the Devils have been one of the most competitive sides in 2026.
