Coburg Football Club was founded in 1891 and is one of the oldest continuing football clubs in Melbourne's north. Originally known as the Burgers and at times the Tigers, the club has competed in the VFA and then the VFL throughout its history. Coburg held a long-running alignment with Richmond from 1999 to 2013 before reverting to fully independent status, and now plays out of Piranha Park (Coburg City Oval) as a community-owned standalone club.
