Owies joined the West Coast Eagles on a three-year deal after a career-best 33-goal season helped push Carlton back into the finals. Originally a Category B rookie who came to football from basketball, the 179cm small forward had his first Eagles year interrupted by a hip injury but still played 16 games. He has played 91 AFL games and kicked 98 goals.
