An Irish Category B rookie from County Meath, Armstrong caught St Kilda's recruiters with a string of performances for Meath's under-20 side in 2024. The 191cm defender made his VFL debut in 2025 as he adjusts to the Australian game, and wears the No.46 guernsey. He is yet to play a senior AFL game.
