Fifteen seasons into life as a Demon, McDonald has a 2021 premiership medal, life membership and a club leading goalkicker award to show for it, along with a late-career return to the defensive post where he started. The 195cm veteran remained a steadying presence in the back six in 2025. He retired at the end of the 2026 season, having played 260 AFL games and kicked 173 goals.
