The fortress by the bay.
GMHBA Stadium — known to generations of footy fans simply as Kardinia Park — has been the home of the Geelong Cats since 1941. Its successive redevelopments over the past two decades have turned it into one of the AFL's best boutique regional venues.
Geelong first played at Kardinia Park in 1941, and the ground has been the club's fortress ever since. The Cats rarely lose at home — one of the most pronounced home-ground advantages in the competition. Major redevelopments have added the Brownlow Stand (2005), the Players Stand (2013), the Premiership Stand (2017) and the Joel Selwood Stand (2023). Capacity now approaches 40,000.
