Victoria Park

History

Victoria Park was Collingwood Football Club's home ground for an extraordinary 107 years, from 1892 to 1999, making it one of the longest associations between an AFL club and a home venue. The ground hosted countless memorable matches, including multiple Grand Final preparations, and became the spiritual heart of Collingwood's football culture.

The park's longevity reflected both the strength of Collingwood's tradition and the ground's central location in the club's heartland. Victoria Park became synonymous with Collingwood's identity in a way few modern grounds achieve, with generations of supporters creating layers of memories and tradition at the venue.

Collingwood's move to the MCG in 2000 ended Victoria Park's remarkable 107-year run as the club's home ground, completing a transition toward larger, more commercially viable venues.

Legacy

Victoria Park's closure represented the end of one of AFL's longest continuous ground-club associations. The site's redevelopment into Glenbervie Park preserved its sporting purpose while making way for modern recreational facilities, though the loss of such an iconic and historically significant venue was bittersweet for Collingwood supporters.
