Selected at pick 4 in 2013, Bontempelli has captained the Western Bulldogs since 2020. His honours include the 2016 premiership, 8 All-Australian selections, 6 Charles Sutton Medals and 3 AFLPA MVP awards, and the 194cm midfielder twice finished Brownlow Medal runner-up, in 2021 and 2023. He has played 282 AFL games and kicked 284 goals.
