Born in New Zealand and raised on rugby league, the 195cm Lefau has twice come back from ACL ruptures, the second suffered against Geelong in June 2024. He forced his way into the senior side again in 2025 only for a calf strain in his comeback match to sideline him once more, and won the club's David Mandie Community Award that year. He has played 32 AFL games and kicked 37 goals.
