Sydney took Stephens at pick 5 in the 2019 national draft, and he featured in the Swans' 2022 grand final side before North Melbourne traded for him in 2023. An outside midfielder rated among the best runners in the competition, he produced career-high numbers in 2025 with 17.5 disposals a game and 6 goals from 22 appearances. He has played 104 AFL games and kicked 21 goals.
