North Melbourne used the second overall pick of the 2023 national draft on McKercher, a fast, left-footed Tasmanian ball-winner. He began his AFL life at half-back, earned a Rising Star nomination and AFLPA 22Under22 selection in 2024, then pushed further up the ground in 2025, averaging 23.4 disposals and kicking 12 goals. He has played 62 AFL games and kicked 18 goals.
