In his first season as captain Anderson shared the AFL Coaches Association's Champion Player of the Year award with Bailey Smith, the second Gold Coast Suns player to win it after Touk Miller, and earned his first All-Australian selection. He led the club into finals for the first time, drove a breakthrough win over Fremantle in Perth and claimed the Goal of the Year with a run and finish. He has played 151 AFL games and kicked 61 goals.
