Selected at pick 9 in the 2024 draft out of the Suns Academy, Lombard kicked a major on debut despite a shoulder injury disrupting his first season. In the VFL the combative midfielder averaged 25.2 disposals and five tackles, dropping below 20 touches only once and peaking with 35 and then 31 in consecutive rounds. He has played 27 AFL games and kicked 19 goals.
