Out of Lucindale, a South Australian town of about 300 people, Fogarty moved to Glenelg and was taken at pick 12 in 2017 after winning the Ben Mitchell Medal for his NAB AFL Academy intake. He kicked a goal with his first kick in his Round 1, 2018 debut against Essendon, and in 2024 led Adelaide's goalkicking for the first time with 41 goals from 23 games. He has played 141 games and kicked 231 goals.
